bio:

modernsextrash is an ever-evolving electronic rock band, comprised of four young musicians. The group combines dance elements from electronic genres and slamming rock and funk riffs – creating a fresh new sound accessible to both the casual listener and experienced musician.

“we are modernsextrash, and so are you.” -andrew linde

Sprouting from the mighty Midwest and the harsh winters of Minneapolis, MN, the band’s neo-label Panacea3 provides the platform on which modernsextrash is built. The “label,” founded by Berklee College of Music graduate Andrew Linde, uses the band to test and implement digital strategies to then be re-purposed in numerous other industries. Andrew Linde, lead singer, producer and synth player, is on a mission to utilize technology for the evolution of art. His vocal and production inspiration comes from artists like Nine Inch Nails, The Beatles and Maynard James Keenan. Jake Wagner, producer and engineer extraordinaire, provides bass guitar duties. Jake has been making music since he was a child and draws from his deep humanistic consciousness. He has engineered and co-produced all the modernsextrash songs to date in his home recording studio. Phil Merriman, Jr. plays guitar and has explored musical avenues such as classical, blues, jazz and metal. Phil draws upon all these musical categories and genres, don’t try to put a label on his style, or sound of music because you just can’t. Taking his start with jazz and classic rock at an early age, Timothy Java has become a highly skilled and adaptable drummer since spending the last 6 years in the metal touring circuit and recording albums with a handful of producers nationwide such as Brian McTernan at Salad Days Studios and Matt Goldman at Glow In The Dark Studios. Prior to modernsextrash, Tim and Phil played for a band between 2004-2009 called Dead To Fall, a metal band on Victory Records.

The music industry and digital world as a whole are rapidly transforming and modernsextrash is poised to ride the wave of change into the future. Countering the steady decline of physical album sales throughout the music industry, modernsextrash will fully utilize the internet and digital audio to set the standard for all future artists to follow. Fans will have first access to new material at no cost and will be able to watch a band evolve like never before.

The only thing that will stay the same about modernsextrash is the fact that they will always be changing.
